Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)

For those Cinder fans, the second book of the Lunar Chronicles, Scarlet is not to be missed.  This is also a perfect summer re-read of those of you itching for the third book in the Lunar Chronicles Series, Cress by Marissa Meyer releasing February 2014.

Summary Courtesy of Goodreads:

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Let me just say, wow!  I could not put this one down!  I absolutely adored Scarlet!  Meyer did an amazing job with the characters throughout this novel and the way she wove Cinder's story into Scarlet's was also masterfully done.  Scarlet, like Cinder, is one strong girl who is not to be underestimated!  The pace set in this book from the get go will have you on the edge of your seat until you finish the last page.  I will say, originally, I had expected Scarlet and Cinder's paths to cross a lot earlier in the book, but the way it was written worked.  Again, a great addition to the series that adds depth and intrigue and another piece of the puzzle.  I cannot wait to start reading Cress to fall in love yet again!
